Monica's album cuts showcase exactly where the Atlanta singer is at her most compelling: singing syrup-soaked love ballads. “Superman” is a paean to movie-style romantic love, all undulating slow-jam beats and feline vocals, while “Breaks My Heart” is a heartbreaking personal lament and “Big Mistake” is laced with recriminations. She can still take it to the dance floor, though, with the ‘80s vibe of “Suga.”
