“I'm coming back bigger, better, stronger, and just wiser, man,” Tierra Whack says about looking forward to a brighter, more optimistic 2021. “I always want to remind people that, ‘Hey, guys, I'm still human.’ I'm going to make mistakes. But I feel like I've learned from every mistake I've ever made and I just always try to do better.” The rap iconoclast is currently writing and recording music for her upcoming album as she spends the holidays with her family in Philadelphia. With three teaser tracks released in 2020 (“feel good,” “Peppers and Onions,” “Dora”), all of which might point to the direction she’s taking with the album, Tierra curated an exclusive Apple Music playlist made almost entirely of modern and classic soul and R&B featuring the likes of GIVĒON, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, and Minnie Riperton. “That's all I do, is listen to R&B,” she says of the playlist. “That's been the vibe lately, and it's getting cold outside in Philly. So I just need that love.”
