Québécoise singer/songwriter Carole Facal, who performs as Caracol, has mixed light and shadow to perfection since pivoting from professional snowboarding to music. After a decade in the doubly dreadlocked reggae duo DobaCaracol, she released her solo debut in 2008, offsetting more blithe island rhythms with melancholy feelings in songs like "L'amour est un tricheur" (Love Is a Cheater). Facal later flipped the emotional script in buoyant indie pop like "Good Reasons" and "Shiver" before morphing into a dance-pop queen with "Les yeux transparents" (Transparent Eyes).
