If you’ve heard a set from DJ/producer Mochakk (aka Brazil’s Pedro Maia), you know that his style of house takes in a pretty wide swath of inspiration from past eras. His Selects playlist—in which DJs and producers share their favorite tracks of any given moment—does much the same. “I did this little selection between old and new tunes,” he tells Apple Music. “Sounds that had an influence on my music, whether it’d be shaping my sound or stuff that I love to play during sets.” Older cuts from Cajmere, CeCe Peniston, and Osunlade share the floor with newer stuff from Peggy Gou and Kaddu for a nice survey of the last couple decades of decadent house.
