Cutting his teeth with the sharp-edged indie rock trio (then duo) Landings, Aidan Hogg became the house engineer at Brisbane studio The Plutonium, helping to usher in both Hatchie’s gauzy dream pop and WAAX’s snotty alt-rock before graduating to become a valued producer and songwriter. He co-penned Tia Gostelow’s gaslighting-inspired 2020 single, “Psycho,” and then rose to prominence as the bassist and producer for alt-pop shapeshifter Jaguar Jonze, whose 2021 single “WHO DIED AND MADE YOU KING?” took square aim at high-ranking abusers in the Australian music industry. Hogg helmed her breakout 2022 album, BUNNY MODE, before co-producing the majority of G Flip’s 2023 LP DRUMMER and co-writing several songs on it—including the grabby singles “Good Enough” and “The Worst Person Alive.” The latter came in at No. 2 in triple j’s Hottest 100 poll, cementing Hogg’s status as a writer/producer at the top of his game.
