Tower of Gold

What was I like ten years ago?

As I stand here alone

So confused at the sight

Of everything that I’ve built

That just doesn’t look right

When I took every chance with careful steps

Approached every obstacle with cautious intent

To create something momentous

And get it done before the sun sets

Crawling on the ground

Looking for my tower of gold

Like a rodent in the road

There’s not enough time in this world

 

I know that I put this weight on my back

Can’t deny I get high on the panic attacks

But who am I to bitch and moan

When there’s someone in the intersection that’s got no home

Or getting a bomb, dropped on their head

And here I am wishing that I was someone else instead

Crawling on the ground

Looking for my tower of gold
