With its charismatic, youthful image, the members of South Korea's Novus Quartet might, at least early in their careers, have been taken as Korean classical music's answer to the country's ubiquitous K-pop boy bands. The group's musical approach, however, is traditional; Western-trained, the group has competed successfully in top European prize events and performed across continental Europe, Britain, and Japan, as well as in its home country. The Novus Quartet has been signed to the Aparte label and has released a varied catalog of French, Austrian, German, and Korean music. In 2025, the Novus Quartet released a complete cycle of the Brahms string quartets.
