As a member of Duo Noire and DuoSF and as a solo player, Christopher Mallett is a fast-rising American guitarist. He is also an educator who operates his own conservatory in addition to teaching in academic settings. While at Yale, Mallett and classmate Thomas Flippin, the guitar program's first two African American students, formed Duo Noire, which has performed widely and remained active as of the early 2020s. Duo Noire released the album Night Triptych in 2018. In 2018, Mallett self-released his debut album, Porcelain Tower. It was followed in 2023 by Justin Holland: Guitar Works and Arrangements.

Christopher Mallett has also released music as a member of Duo Noire and Duosf.
