Originally a strictly salsa act, the tropical orchestra Los Alfa 8, led by percussionist Ricardo Bustos, incorporated more cumbia rhythms as they evolved. Vibrant love songs and spicy dance numbers have long been the main ingredients for the Colombian orchestra's success. As they celebrated over 25 years in existence, it was announced that their 2006 effort Yo Bailo Cumbia was a nominee for a Latin Grammy in the category of Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album. ~ David Jeffries
