Known as Mike City, Michael Flowers established himself by producing, presenting, and appearing on the rap compilation The N.C. All Star Project, Vol. 1 (1997), after which he released an R&B-oriented solo album, City Limits (1998). Following those recordings, he worked primarily behind the scenes and made his commercial breakthrough with hits for Carl Thomas, Sunshine Anderson, and Brandy. Flowers worked steadily through the next couple decades without being confined to one genre. During the mid-2010s, he concentrated on soul-rooted house music, and was featured as a lead vocalist on several singles from labels such as Tribe and Defected. For the BBE label, he also produced The Feel Good Agenda, Vol. 1 (2017). ~ Andy Kellman
