About MISSIO
Austin, Texas, electronic-rock duo MISSIO—producers/songwriters Matthew Brue and David Butler—rose to fame in 2017 with cathartic songs that were alternative radio hits.
∙ The group’s name is Latin for “mission.”
∙ Their provocative clip for 2016’s “Can I Exist”—addressing police brutality against Black men—won Best Narrative Music Video at the Austin Music Video Awards.
∙ The duo’s gleefully profane breakthrough single, 2017’s “Middle Fingers,” reached the Top 20 on four different Billboard charts.
∙ By 2017, they had rocketed from playing small club shows to performing at their hometown’s iconic Austin City Limits Music Festival.
