A large jazz ensemble, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) were formed in 2002 by trumpeter/composer Irvin Mayfield. Centered around the goal of preserving the culture, history, and music of New Orleans jazz, NOJO are a nonprofit organization and have partnered with both the University of New Orleans and Tulane University for various educational and academic programs. Mayfield has featured the ensemble on several albums including 2005's Strange Fruit and 2009's Book One. ~ Matt Collar
