France's Quatuor Arod (or Arod Quartet: violinists Jordan Victoria, Alexandre Vu, violist Corentin Apparailly, and cellist Samy Rachid) have made news with fresh interpretations, especially of music by Felix Mendelssohn. The Quatuor Arod was established in 2013, and has made appearances at major international festivals. By the 2017-2018 season it was appearing at some of Europe's top venues. In 2017 the Quatuor Arod achieved two major breakthroughs. It was named BBC New Generation Artist for a term running until 2019 and, signed to the Erato label, it released its first album, with a program of quartets by Mendelssohn. ~ James Manheim
