Rodrigo Amarante is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, TV/film composer, and former member of the bands Los Hermanos, Orquestra Imperial, and Little Joy.
â Originally intending to be a filmmaker or a journalist, Amarante turned to music in 1997 when his friend Marcelo Camelo invited him to sing with Los Hermanos.
â âN Y C Subway Poetry Department,â from legendary Brazilian singer-songwriter Tom ZĂ©âs 2012 album, TropicĂĄlia Lixo LĂłgico, featured guest vocals from Amarante.
â He made his solo debut with Cavalo, which was ranked No. 6 on Rolling Stone Brasilâs list of the Best National Albums of 2013.
â âTuyo (Narcos Theme),â his opening track used on the TV series Narcos, hit No. 6 on Billboardâs Latin Pop Digital Songs chart in 2015 and received an Emmy nomination.
â Amarante composed his first film scoreâthe soundtrack for Brazilian director JosĂ© Padilhaâs 7 Days in Entebbeâin 2018.
â In 2019, he recorded the duets âI Forgotâ and âFallingâ with Norah Jones.
Rodrigo Amarante has also released music as a member of Los Hermanos and Little Joy.
