Roy Harper is an idiosyncratic British singer/songwriter acclaimed for his deeply personal, poetic lyrics and unique guitar work. By 1965, he was a mainstay of London's Les Cousins folk club, performing alongside the likes of Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Nick Drake. His debut LP, 1966's The Sophisticated Beggar, transformed him into a major-label act. In 1970, he issued Flat Baroque and Berserk, and Led Zeppelin III featured "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper," a tribute penned by friend Jimmy Page. Upon relocating to California's Big Sur region, Harper began writing 1971's Stormcock, regarded by many as his finest record. He went on to release well over a dozen more studio LPs and numerous live sets over the next 40 years. In 2013, Science Friction began an ambitious reissue campaign of Harper's catalog, culminating in the release of Man and Myth, his first recording of new material in 13 years.
