Malaysian hip-hop is best embodied by the duo Too Phat. Joe Flizzow and Malique Ibrahim broke through in 1999 with the release of singles "Li'l Fingaz" and "Too Phat Baby". Those tracks were just teasers of the duo's skills, and by the time their LP Plan B came out in 2001, Too Phat dominated the Malaysian airwaves. More successful studio efforts followed over the years, culminating in the release of 2005's Rebirth Into Reality which featured various hip-hop artists from the region. Although the duo has been dormant in recent years, their legacy lives on. Here's the reason why.
