Formed in 1991 in Buffalo, New York, Snapcase took the mosh-friendly sonics of classic American hardcore bands like Agnostic Front and Youth of Today and added the jagged rhythms and heavy riffage of post-hardcore and metal bands like Fugazi and Helmet. Their style defined hardcore into the next century and had a major impact on emo and screamo as well, with bands like Refused and Thursday citing Snapcase as an inspiration. Between 1993-2003, the band released five albums before splitting. But they reunited several times since, playing a series of well-received shows.
