This Brooklyn duo draws on throwback elements (the creaky aesthetic of gothic folk, the sun-dappled shimmer of '70s California pop) to add depth to their gently trippy songs, which conjure the opiate­-addled aura of late-­'90s dream ­pop. Molly Hamilton's winsome, laconic vocal delivery could be cribbed from Liz Phair, but her lyrics are timeless and unsettling. Like a quilt that combines scraps of well-­loved concert Ts with delicate heirloom fabrics, Widowspeak's music is a patchwork of indie rock and old­-fashioned twang, threaded together in a hazy fever dream.
