Shadowboxing

Once I loved you dear, but now I'm not so sure

Once I thought so clear, but clearly not so anymore

Cause twice I've seen my heart, grow wings and fly away

Now I see it start to fall apart every day

And all I know how to do, is how to run from you

Once I hated you, once I cursed your name

But once I thought it through I knew it's true we're all the same

Cause all we want is love, and all we fear is pain

And all we hate's in us so trust is all that keeps us sane

But the shadows whisper in our ears

Making everything unclear

I'll fight them, until my dying day

It's me I'm fighting anyway

Every punch I throw lands squarely on my nose

And with every blow, I come to know my mind

But no matter how I spar with what we really are

I'm never far from being what I find

Now my shadows shrink, now it's time to change

Now I wash my eyes, everything it looks so strange

Now I see the truth, now I look away

Now I feel my youth, and leave it for another day
