Lyrics
It was found in the jungle
Down in the untold bowels where they prowl through the unknown
A talisman, passed around the town by men until it sunk its talons in, befouling them
We had heard the stories now and then, from those cowering and shouting from the shadowlands
It was said to make your wildest dreams come true
And I believed too, I had seen a few
But most those dreams come with demons too, and even you might find it tough to see between the two
On a blanket with trinkets, a cantankerous figure on the bank of the river burned incense
Sold anklets and ring-sets
Intricate pieces that ancients would bury their kings with
They were tarnished and hard to distinguish
She had cautioned us anonymous preponderance
How often wanderlust could not escape the harm of what has come along with us
And purchasing this charm could just belong to Lust, a monster that's been haunting us
But we took it all as gobbledygook and nonsense you tell tourists at the carnivals
So that's on us
I purchased it, sure that it was worth a bit
She warned us that you can't return the gift, or turn a wish into some nourishment
If you try, you may be cursed to worship it
Like she was trying to sell insurance or some other horseshit (?)
I dusted it off, wondering how long it must have been lost
Busted, crust-rusted in spots
Plugged it in and that's how it starts...
