Cardinals' Wings

My Daddy sat me down when I was 5 years old

He told me that my grandpa was headed on home

Didn't understand back then but I sure get it now Just because they're leaving doesn't mean they ain't around

Cause they're flying right above us And they're singing amazing grace

And they're soaring ever higher

Cause they've seen the maker's face

So when you look outside on a sunny summer day Remember there's a reason that God gave cardinals wings

Just the other day on a full moon July night

I looked outside my window and there in the moonlight

I saw a redbird sitting right outside my door

I sat there for a moment and remembered what they're for
