Lyrics

More of him and less of me
It rings inside incessantly
Ever since the day His Spirit
Came and changed my destiny
My heart was a cluttered mess
Full of pride and selfishness
Closet full of skeletons and secrets
I hadn’t confessed
The status that I crafted
of imagined self-importance
Was a shoddily constructed
Rushed and rusted mental fortress
So the day that he came knocking
All the doors fell of their hinges
And He took his rightful place inside
Escorted out the mistresses
Yessir I am lesser
Couldn’t increase if I tried
I am raised to life with Jesus
and my flesh is crucified
Glory glory hallelujah
To the one who gives us life
The smaller that I find myself
The more that he gets magnified
Any status that I have is
Not because of what I’ve done
If it was I wouldn’t need the
Spotless sacrificial Son
And that’s a laugh that’s a chuckle
That’s a silly way of thinking
He just keeps on getting bigger
And I just continue shrinking
Too many times I'm seeing reasons
For my seasons of doubt
And I'm too focused on myself
And how I look to the crowd
My mind is cluttered with these thoughts
But then I prayed and I found
That all my life I had these idols
That I gotta lay down
Sometimes I sit back relax
Take a look at creation
And I'm thinking and laughing
About my interpretations
And I thought I knew a lot
Had the right information
I thought that I knew more than God
Who's lived for all generations
How we try to spread peace
But we don't act the same at home?
We say "Spirit, use me,"
But we like moving on our own
Want our faith to increase
But don't like stepping out our zone
How we celebrate good deeds
Act like we're sitting on his throne?
We gotta make ourselves less and less
Make sure the Lord is greater
We so used to being served
Time to be the waiter
Remember who we serving
Holy God, the One Creator
Lay down your idols now
Ya better not wait for later
