Lyrics

Get Up And Go
Left my home in Boston back in 19 and 65.
Shuffled past the cross roads and let me tell you, I never felt so alive.
I kept on going till I got to the banks of the River Mud
A two year old traveler.
I’m guessing even then it was in my blood.
Me and the boys hopped a lot of trains, walked a lot of railroad track.
Going all day Roamin’ our way, wishing that we never had to go back.
When the sun went down we had to turn around, knowing that we had to head back home.
When the morning came, more of the same.
Another destination unknown.
When the rubber hits the road.
Seems to me, it’s a remedy for the longing in my soul.
So baby, I may stay for another day or so.
But then I’m gonna put the pedal down.
Gotta shake this town, cause I got a lotta get up and go.
In ‘93, I met a fine lady by the name of ‘Ol Bluebell.
Two of a kind.
Both trying to find a slice of heaven by raising hell.
Memphis, Chicago, New Orleans and the City of Angels too.
When she ran for the border, that’s when I went running on home to you.
When the rubber hits the road.
Seems to me, it’s a remedy for the longing in my soul.
So baby, I may stay for another day or so.
But then I’m gonna put the pedal down.
Gotta shake this town cause I got a lotta get up and go.
