I woke before the dawn

Packed my things and began to run

But I was running in reverse

Like a lost dog down a dark road

With nothing more to show

Than the tired look in his eyes

And the feeling of his old coat

Could this be it for me

Will you show me the time?

Lately I've been feeling down

I hope I wasn't unkind

I'm running in reverse

To what I use to know

You held my candle close

Then blew it out in one go

Well I've never seen

Something so beautiful burn before

It takes me all day

To get out of bed

I gotta another hangover

And a sore head

I guess I'll never learn

Now the bells

Are ringing loud and clear

I was in control

Then forgot how to steer
