Pennied Days
Album - Alternative, Music, Indie Rock, Pop, Pop/Rock, Rock
Between their heartfelt delivery and luxurious production, Night Moves salute '70s soft-rock on this thickly dreamy second album. Opener “Carl Sagan” spikes its Bee Gees influence with George Harrison-esque slide guitar, and “Border on Border” evokes “Hello It’s Me”-era Todd Rundgren, while “Staurolite Stroll” expands upon the sun-soaked spaciness of fellow classic rock revivalists My Morning Jacket. No matter how richly these songs shimmer, though, the band’s humble folk twang carries through. “Denise, Don’t Wanna See You Cry” is the best of both worlds—like a mirrorball spinning above a campfire.
