“One of the crazy things we did was not release this song because we didn’t think it was good enough.” That was Thom Yorke’s message to a Norwegian crowd in June 2017 before Radiohead played “I Promise” live for the first time since 1996. The centerpiece of OKNOTOK’s second set of unreleased tracks and B-sides, it’s a startlingly beautiful snapshot of the band’s ridiculous post-The Bends, OK Computer-era potency. Elsewhere, “Lift” is another glistening gem from the vaults and “Meeting in the Aisle” provides a reminder of the band’s haunting way around an instrumental. A remastered OK Computer, meanwhile, remains the foreboding masterpiece it ever was.
