In other words, they come with class. Established in 1996, the quartet plays a repertoire covering the core quartet spectrum from Haydn and Mozart to Bartók and Shostakovich. For larger-scale works, they collaborate with star soloists like violinist Pinchas Zukerman and cellist Gary Hoffman. As cultural ambassadors for their homeland, they also emphasize the music of Jewish interwar composers like Korngold and Erwin Schulhoff, whose chamber works appear on the quartet's Yiddish Cabaret (2019), with soprano Hila Baggio. The Jerusalem Quartet take this often-marginalized music around the world, and with a pioneering zeal that gives them edge.
