Anne Gastinel is a celebrated French cellist associated with Naïve who began her recording career in the mid-'90s and released new albums annually, many of them collaborative. Born on October 14, 1971, in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, France, she began playing cello at the age of four and made her television debut as a concert soloist at the age of ten. She studied at both the Music Conservatory in Lyon and the National Music Conservatory in Paris. In the '90s she toured internationally and performed with world-renowned classical artists including Kurt Sanderling, Emmanuel Krivine, and Louis Langrée, among many others. She also began winning critical favor and an endless list of prestigious awards. In association with the label Naïve, she embarked on a recording career with early albums featuring Orchestre National de Lyon, among them Saint-Saëns, Lalo, and Fauré: Concertos Pour Violoncelle (1995) and Dvorak & Bloch: Concertos Pour Violoncelle (1996). Later in the decade she began collaborating with pianist François-Frédéric Guy on several albums of Brahms, Beethoven, and others. In addition, she collaborated with pianist Claire Désert on Schubert: Arpeggione (2006) and guitarist Pablo Marquez on Iberica (2009).
