Cowboy Mike is the stage name of Michael Burtt, an American DJ and electronic dance artist known for wearing his trademark black cowboy hat while spinning club sets.
∙ Growing up in Detroit, Cowboy Mike was influenced by the city’s techno scene, as well as such rock bands as U2, Depeche Mode, and Nine Inch Nails.
∙ After moving to San Diego in the mid-2000s, he began DJing live with the encouragement of fellow electronic artist Victor Dinaire.
∙ Cowboy Mike made his recording debut in 2008 with the single “Clutch,” which was subsequently remixed by Victor Dinaire, Renato Dinis, and High Frequencies.
∙ In 2010, he teamed up with DJ Donald Glaude for the track “Break It Off,” which was remixed by several other artists on the album of the same name.
∙ His track “No Way Back,” featuring a remix by Bissen, was included on Pharmacy Music’s acclaimed 2011 dance compilation Pharmacy: Phase 1.
