Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Pedro Almodóvar caught plenty of acclaim as well as heat for his bold, risk-taking body of work, and he also composed score material and played a significant role in the music that was featured in those films. In 1997, Captiol subsidiary Metro Blue assembled Songs of Almodóvar, a compilation that anthologized significant songs used in films that ranged from 1982's Labyrinth of Passion to 1993's Kika. Viva la Tristeza!, issued in 2003 by Milan, was based on songs the director listened to while writing the script for Hable Con Ella ("Talk to Her"). ~ Andy Kellman
