Pioneers of Israeli trance, The Astral Projection was formed out of the ashes of another successful dance artist (SFX) in 1989 by Lior Perlmutter and Avi Nissim. The pair were exponents of a unique style of psychedelic trance, relying on layered riffs based around Eastern-sounding scales, thick synth pads, and heavy reverbs, rather than the sparse abstract noises favored by many of their contemporaries. After releasing the single "Monster Mania," on the Music Man Records, they formed Trust In Trance Records, and released their debut album, TRUST IN TRANCE VOL. 1 in 1994. A second volume entered the Israeli album chart at number 2 the following year, and turned the ears of genre icons Danny Rampling and Paul Oakenfold. Their supremacy in the trance field grew with 1999's ANOTHER WORLD.
