Best remembered for his 1968 chart-topper "Honey," Bobby Goldsboro was born in 1941 in Florida. During the early '60s, Goldsboro played guitar in Roy Orbison's band, mounting a solo career in 1964. He soon scored a Top Ten hit with the self-penned "See the Funny Little Clown," and his sophisticated yet sentimental style yielded several Top 40 entries during the mid-'60s. "Honey," a maudlin tale about the tragic death of a young bride, hit number one in 1968 and stayed there for five weeks. Goldsboro returned to the Top 40 twice more that year, but was absent from the charts for over two years. He notched a big hit in 1971 when "Watching Scotty Grow" nearly reached the Top Ten, and he hosted the variety show The Bobby Goldsboro Show between 1973 and 1975. Goldsboro retired from performing in the '80s but became active in children's entertainment.
