British R&B singer/songwriter Lemar Obika first came to public attention via his 2002 appearance on The Fame Academy, the British equivalent of American Idol, where he duetted with Lionel Richie and subsequently scored a deal with Sony. Lemar’s 2003 debut album, DEDICATED, found success in the U.K., and the next year, its follow-up, TIME TO GROW, went all the way to the top of the British charts. Third album THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE sported guest appearances by everyone from The L.O.X. to Joss Stone, and generated a trio of U.K. hit singles.
