Biografía de este/a artista
Though formed not far south of San Francisco in the suburb of Redwood City, Los Campesinos de Michoacan play the traditional music of Michoacan, the region of southwest Mexico. Formed by Michoacan native Salvador Baldovinos in Redwood City in 1983, the music is distinguished from the sounds of groups from other areas of Mexico by the use of harp (played by Baldovinos). The band recorded two sessions for Arhoolie Records, in 1985 and 1987, that are combined onto their self-titled CD. After those recordings, Baldovinos moved with his family (including his wife Elisa Baldovinos, who sings in the group) to Yakima, WA, where as of 2003 he continues to play for parties. ~ Richie Unterberger
