Singer/dancer/actress Mýa emerged as an R&B superstar in the late ’90s. Born Mya Marie Harrison, the Washington, D.C. native first took up dance at a young age. Eventually, she decided to pursue singing full-time, signing with Interscope Records in 1996 at the age of 16. Her 1998 debut single “It’s All About Me” featuring Sisqo—off of her self-titled album—hit No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her entrance into the music world. Over the years, Mýa also joined other artists like Pras and Ol’ Dirty Bastard (“Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)”) as well as Blackstreet and Mase (“Take Me There”). She’s perhaps best known for teaming up with Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, and P!nk for a remake of “Lady Marmalade” in 2001 from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, a smash hit that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks and won a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. On screen, Mýa can be seen acting and dancing in films such as Chicago (2002), Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004), and Shall We Dance? (2004). Since the release of her 2018 eighth full-length—T.K.O. (The Knockout)—the singer continues to put out songs including 2020’s “You Got Me, Pt. II,” 2021’s “Worth It” (as her alter ego Mýa Lan$ky), 2023’s “Whine,” 2024’s “Anytime,” and 2025’s “Give It to You.”
