Sonic's Rendezvous Band was something of a Detroit underground-rock supergroup in the 1970s; led by Fred "Sonic" Smith of MC5 fame, it also included Scott Morgan of the Rationals and Scott Asheton of the Stooges. While their hard-driving sound didn't generate much extra-regional interest during their lifetime (in which they released only one song), their posthumous legend grew mightily over the years. In 1999, the first of two collections of live recordings and demos was released and, in 2006, came a six-disc box set of SRB material, igniting a new level of interest in the band.
