Eric Tsai took the name for his Lunar New Year playlist, Bright Future, from a lyric in "Waiting on the Day," a track on his band Fool and Idiot’s 2019 debut album. “The theme is renewal,” he tells Apple Music of his selection of Mandopop, classic rock, and electro-pop, which includes his favorite song of 2019 (never young beach’s “Haruwomatte”) and his self-proclaimed anthem for 2020 (Wayne’s So Sad’s “Wanderer Guide in Taipei”). “I don’t see it as just for Taipei,” he says. “I hope everyone can find their own survival and wanderer guide in whatever city they live in.” “Since our hometown is in southern Taiwan, the temperature is still rather nice during the New Year,” says the singer-songwriter. “Relatives around my age go on walks with my grandparents to parks or the pier. The true meaning behind the festival lies in how you get so much more joy out of doing the activities you love, simply because you’re doing them with your loved ones.” He also offers a blessing for the celebration: “May all your wishes come true. I hope everyone can reach their goals, and have a ‘bright future’. Ha!”
