Wand roam the fuzzy zone between garage-punk wallop and psychedelia's cosmic shimmer. The L.A. band get a thrill from probing every last nook and cranny of their eclectic taste; the sledgehammer riffs and electronic squeals tormenting “Self Hypnosis in 3 Days” are worlds removed from the ethereal harmonies floating across the enchanted “Melted Rope,” although both songs are from 2015's Golem. And if that isn't enough, they veer into cyborg art-pop swathed in sci-fi synthesizers on “Stolen Footsteps.”
