In 2019, British rapper slowthai was hanging out in the green room during his debut US performance in LA with producer Kwes Darko when he caught wind of an unexpected guest: A$AP Rocky. “He's there chatting and I'm like, 'What the fuck, why is he here?'” slowthai tells Apple Music. “He would come over and was like, ‘Yo, man, your album is hard.’ He was there for the whole show, linking up.” slowthai went on to collaborate with Rocky on “MAZZA,” featured on his second LP TYRON and this exclusive Apple Music playlist he curated. Other artists on the playlist include Daniel Johnston, Jessica Pratt, Playboi Carti, and another notable TYRON collab, James Blake. “I think that everyone underestimates him as a producer,” slowthai says of the singer-songwriter/producer, who worked with him and Mount Kimbie on the track “feel away.” “As much as he can play and sing, he's got the voice of an angel and he can play with your soul. His heart's in it.”
