Since the mid ’70s, Rio de Janeiro-bred Djavan has traversed styles beyond samba and dance music. The singer-songwriter has explored jazz and blues and even writes English-language songs to widen his audience. Fluid guitar and bass lines remain a calling card throughout his oeuvre, resulting in plenty of lesser-known gems.
