“This mix is made in honor of all queer Latin Americans who dance to relieve themselves of the stress of their daily lives,” says Venezuelan-born, Miami-based artist MJ Nebreda. “It’s for those who show up to these spaces with love and support, regardless of how hard it is for them at home or in their communities. My focus here was mixing songs centering queer Black, Latin American, and Caribbean artists.” Describing the sound and vibe, they set the scene: “I imagined being at the raves that I’ve enjoyed, ones where the dance floor is dominated by queer Latin people, the spaces where people get to feel seen and be in community. These rhythms carry ancestral sounds and bring with them memories that many of us have attached to precious moments in our life. I envision this mix being played anywhere Latin queerness is being celebrated.”
