In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember being in a car, going to scouts. All the other kids were in the back seat but I was sat in the front. "Please, Please Me" by the Beatles came on, and that grabbed my whole attention. Nothing else was important.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Wild God Nick Drake, Pink Moon The Beatles, Revolver I think Revolver is the first album I bought. I think it's flawless. Even "Yellow Submarine" gets a spin. "And Your Bird Can Sing" is the Beatles in microcosm - sublime harmonies, experimentation, energy, wit, infectiousness, and that perfect bass.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Could You Be the One?” This is my favourite song of my own at the moment. It's for my wife. I love playing it live with The Grizzly Folk. It has wonderful energy, and when I hear the audience singing the "oooo" parts, it's the very essence of joy.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Touring with Martin Carthy was pretty special. I worked hard each night and he was thankful, but it was only towards the end of the tour that he became complimentary. "That was bloody brilliant!" he would say. I felt I had to earn it.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd like to record at Abbey Road. I'd like to play some of the bigger festival stages with The Grizzly Folk. I'm currently writing a book about the famous folk club, Les Cousins. Still so much to do!
