Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I composed my first piece I was 7. My dad had set an alarm to play on our IOS device every morning. Bored, I tried to replicate and play it on the piano from ear, but I failed and accidentally created something entirely new—my first composition.

Tell us why you chose this song. “Before it's too late (Concert Band Version)” This was the first piece I composed where I felt like I finally understood how to write for multiple instruments in a chamber piece and give them all a different part to play. Before this, I mostly composed piano solos and large ensemble pieces.
