In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my first vivid musical memories is about a jazz band performance at my school. The performance itself wasn't anything special, but it was the first time I heard jazz live and experienced the magic of improvisation and ensemble playing.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John Coltrane, A Love Supreme Miles Davis, Kind of Blue Sonny Rollins, Saxophone Colossus Rudy Van Gelder Remaster These are three absolute masterpieces of jazz music. I never get tired of listening to them.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Jazzmashin (feat. Mikhail Maryshev & Sasha Mashin)” This is the first melody I wrote. It inspired me to continue composing music.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival with the Isfar Sarabski Trio. We played after a Chick Corea and Bobby McFerrin duo, and it was truly inspiring.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I am currently preparing the release of my new album "Long Journey", which fully presents me as a composer, bandleader and double bass player. And I am very excited to share this music with the world.
