Born Matthias Ernst in Weende, Germany on November 23, 1958, Max Goldt was a well-known underground musician, writer, satirist, and spoken word performer. On the one hand, he was a straight-up rock musician in the late '70s and early '80s, and on the other, a writer and contributor to magazines and newspapers both underground and mainstream. He released more than 20 music and spoken word CDs, and has toured in many German speaking areas. He has also joined forces with comic artist Stephan Katz, and the two had their work printed in publications, as well as in book form. In 2007, Goldt released the spoken album QQ: Quiet Quality, and a comic book (with Stephan Katz). ~ Chris True
