In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 10 years old, I played the flute in a play “Poor Folk” based on Dostoevsky at a famous theatre in my home town Novosibirsk. It was exciting and scary at the same time. That's when I first earned my own money.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Alicia Keys, VH1 Storytellers: Alicia Keys (Live) Aretha Franklin, The Best of Aretha Franklin Whitney Houston, I Will Always Love You: The Best of Whitney Houston Whitney Houston: I decided to become a singer when I was 15, singing along with Whitney’s songs. Aretha Franklin: Those songs inspired me to sing soul and to develop myself in that genre. Alicia Keys: Amazing live performance of such emotional songs.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I'm Lost (Я потерялась)” I wrote the song in Toulouse (France) when I was 21 and was feeling extremely lonely. I’m singing it in my native tongue Russian. I’m playing flute as a contrast to the electric guitar, and I love the mixture of both creating that nervous mood.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When I started to write my own songs seven years ago. It opened up new creative channels in me. I got to know so many new musicians with whom I collaborated on new songs. And it's helping me to deal with my emotional difficulties.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My desire is to make a Europe tour performing my own songs, both as a singer and as a pianist, together with a band. With my music, I want to emphasise how a leap of change and a shift of mindset are so important and relieving.
