From the ‘60s onwards, a crisp Mediterranean air began to blow through Israel. Although it took until the ‘80s for the songs to build a strong national profile, both musically and thematically, musicians and songwriters have borrowed distinct Italian and Greek elements, or entire songs, and set them in Hebrew with success—a popular symbiosis that continues to break ground to this day.
