Though he's been associated with the German minimal techno label Kompakt for much of his career, Brazilian-born producer Gui Boratto's work often sounds closer to the hedonistic intensity of mainstream EDM. Boratto's name first rang out after he signed to Kompakt in 2005 and released a string of buzzy EPs. He broke through to the international charts with his 2007 LP, Chromophobia, on which he blended techno and synth-pop into an intelligently accessible style. Boratto continued to develop on 2014's Abaporu, which blended his pop sensibility with live instrumentation.
