Just when you've reached the bottom of Mercury Rev's rabbit hole, they nudge you down a whole new kaleidoscopic path. While "Everlasting Arm" has Beach Boys charm, it's not all sunny and bright. Frantic prog rock epic "Sweet Oddysee…" gets swallowed up by a volatile tsunami of guitar distortion, while the band wriggle and writhe through a jungle of free jazz and psych rock as Harmony Rockets.
