Rather than join rock's mainstream, Fugazi reshaped it in their own image. They've pushed the likes of Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters to abrasive extremes, and sparked Rage Against the Machine's rap metal molotov cocktail. Their uncompromising spirit is also felt in riot grrrl instigators Bikini Kill and avant-electro duo The Knife, who quote Fugazi's “Blueprint” on the bone-rattling “Raging Lung.”
